ABC News shills for the Alan Guttmacher Institute, calls it news

Category: abortion,mediaharmonicminer @ 11:55 am

ABC News has put up basic pro-abortion propaganda masquerading as news.

Mixing facts and interpretation, without differentiating the two, the link above has a “news” story accompanied by a video (with the ABC News logo!) that was actually produced by the Alan Guttmacher Institute, a strongly pro-abortion advocacy organization.  The video is not even thinly disguised;  it is straight-up pro-abortion propaganda.  For it to be presented with the ABC News logo, in a “news” story purporting to report demographic changes in who gets abortions and why, is the clearest possible evidence of the pro-abortion slant of the major media, a part of their over-all leftist tilt.

It’s also evidence of the inability of the major media to keep news and opinion/perspective separate, despite the major media’s protestations that even though most of its members are left, they can still be objective in reporting the news.

Ask yourself this:  would ABC News put up a video produced by, say, Focus on the Family, reporting the exact same facts as the Guttmacher video, but offering a different interpretation of causes and effects, and a different prescription for what women really need?  And would it put up such a video as the sole interpretation of the demographic “facts”?

The idea is risible, of course.

Of course, ABC News didn’t even bother to ASK any pro-life organization for a competing interpretation to the Guttmacher propaganda piece.  Or, if ABC News did ask, it certainly didn’t report it.

Instead, the Alan Guttmacher Institute (given a bully pulpit by ABC News) would have us believe the canard that “poverty causes abortion” and that more federal social spending/entitlements would reduce abortion (Not so, but even if it was true, so what?  It’s not like abortion is a BAD thing to the pro-aborts of the world, right?).

In another post, I’ll discuss some interpretations of the demographic aspects of abortion that ABC News didn’t bother to solicit from any pro-life organization.

For now, just know this: you can’t trust the reporting of the major media on abortion.  Period.

Or on much else, either.

Mass Murder Among Us

Category: abortionamuzikman @ 8:55 am

Michelle Malkin has an excellent article concerning the Philadelphia mass murder, er abortion clinic, now known as the “House of Horrors”.  Please read it.

For years the pro-abortion fear mongers among us have reviled us with tales of back alley abortions done with a coat hanger.   I find it ironic, to say the least, that some of the women who visited Dr. Gosnell’s clinic might have opted for the alley as a safer choice.  But I am sure that no one can paint a more fearful scenario than this very real one in the City of Brotherly Love.

I also can’t help but wonder why it is that the so called civil rights “leaders” do not raise a cry of outrage about the genocide that is being perpetrated on the minority community.

As the article explains, there were many who knew about the horrors of this clinic and yet chose to do nothing.  Why is that?

Pro-abortionists like to thump their proverbial chests and proclaim how theirs is the “logical” position and how it is fruitless to use logic in a debate with someone who is pro-life.  Can someone please explain to me the “logic” of Dr. Gosnell?

Philadelphia abortion doctor charged with murder

An abortion doctor killed hundreds of babies by cutting their spinal cords with scissors after removing them from mothers late in their pregnancies, prosecutors said on Wednesday.

Philadelphia District Attorney Seth Williams charged Dr. Kermitt Gosnell, 69, and nine associates with eight counts of murder, following a year-long investigation by a grand jury, whose report was unveiled on Wednesday.

The defendants are charged with first-degree murder in the cases of seven babies for which there is substantial evidence, Williams said.

Hundreds of other babies are likely to have died in Gosnell’s West Philadelphia clinic, which he operated from 1979 to 2010, Williams said.

A third-degree murder charge stemmed from the death of a mother who died from an overdose of anesthetics, he said.

“My comprehension of the English language can’t adequately describe the barbaric nature of Dr. Gosnell,” Williams said at a news conference.

Gosnell and his associates were arrested without incident on Wednesday, and Williams said he may seek the death penalty for Gosnell.

He said Gosnell’s clients, many of whom were poor, were charged $325 for a first-trimester abortion and between $1,625 and $3,000 for an illegal abortion after 24 weeks.

Under the law, it make a huge difference if the baby is killed in the womb, or out.   If the “medical doctor” in this story had simply been more careful to kill the babies in the womb, instead of after getting them out, he’d be in no legal jeopardy whatsoever, other than perhaps for his carelessness in getting one of the mothers dead.  Hey “Doc”, you should have stuck the scissors in and done the spinal cord snipping while the baby was still in the womb.

Just to get a feel for things in Pennsylvania (not so different from other states), here are a couple of links.

If you’re under 18, and want to get an abortion without your parents’ consent or knowledge, here is how to do it in Pennsylvania, where “So far, in Pennsylvania, the judges have never said no to anyone.”

Here’s an especially nice touch:

Special Arrangements

Allegheny Reproductive Health Center will handle arrangements for cremation after pathology. A small memento of your choice can be included in with the baby at the time it is sent for pathology. If you wish, you can receive a special memory packet which contains a copy of the ultrasound report if you do not have one, online and printed materials, and a little memento to take home with you. It is our hope that you and your loved ones feel comfortable and cared for while at ARHC. If there is anything else we should know or can do to make your visit easier, please let us know.

RESOURCES

Traditionally, particularly in many Western faiths, there have been no rituals or ceremonies or prayers written to connect God’s love and mercy to women’s experience of pregnancy loss.  Fortunately, today much work has been done to address this need.  New prayers, rituals and ceremonies have been created and are available to help women and their families honor their loss, name their grief, and find solace in the warmth of family, friends, and their faith community.

Did you get that?  They actually called the killed human child a “baby”, not a “product of conception”.  After you pay a “doctor” to murder your baby, you can be all touchy-feely and warm and have a nice memento (baby booties?  Ultrasound photos?  A picture of “mom”?) burned to ashes along with the baby’s corpse.  And from the sound of the paragraph above, it looks like you can do anything from taking communion to having a nice wiccan ceremony, to commemorate your decision to kill your child.  We certainly want to be supportive, don’t we?

And here’s a nice list of late term abortion clinics around the nation, from abortion.com.

I wonder how many of the aborted babies were black?   I don’t think there is too much doubt about what Martin Luther King, Jr. would have thought about this.

A dream of life for all

Day Gardner’s memories in Reflections from the Rally: “I, Too, Have a Dream”.

I can’t explain what I felt as I watched Dr. Alveda King bounding down the steps of the Lincoln Memorial steps to deliver her speech, “I Too, Have a Dream.”
In the moments before I was introduced, I was taken back 47 years to when I was eight years old. I remember that day vividly–sitting on the floor, my back leaning against my father’s chair. My eyes were glued to the television. Dr. Martin Luther King had become my hero, he was a deliverer. Even then, my parents seemed worried about his future–would someone try to silence this man of God? Unfortunately, it did happen –we all lost him.
Eventually, it became evident we had to strive to make “the dream” a reality so that Dr. King’s death would not be in vain. We became energized for a few seasons, I think. The world was changing and black Americans knew that if they stayed the course–they might just get there. Many of the Black clergy awkwardly stepped forward in an attempt to fill the void left by Dr. King and his murdered brother Rev. A.D. King; but it never happened.
The Reverend Jesse Jackson tried and was believable for awhile as his star began to rise with “I am somebody” and his powerful writings against abortion.
More and more black ministers wanted the adulation Dr. King had, as they all vied for his coveted “leadership” role.
Growing up, I was saddened to see them drop like flies–becoming sell-outs to immorality. Sidelining their worship of God, many chose power, greed and money instead. Men of God became less and less Godly–some became God-less.
Jesse Jackson, the once adamant supporter of all children born and unborn–switched tracks to board the abortion train. That train has brutally killed more than 50 million children since 1973–more than 17 million black children. He became part of America’s downfall.
On August 28, 2010, the 47th anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King’s historical speech, I find myself standing beside his niece, Dr. Alveda King as she delivered her amazing speech on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial. My eyes welled–a lump formed–this is what her uncle saw! Looking out over the mall into thousands and thousands of faces, Alveda, my black brothers and sisters and I stood in solidarity–in unity. From the Lincoln Memorial, past the Washington Monument, as far as the eye could see in any direction, American people of all colors stood shoulder to shoulder to honor the one true God–to show love for our great country, a country founded on the Solid Rock which is the word of God–to fix the places where we are broken–to help the weathered masses–to see the humanity of unborn children–to heal the terrible hurts–to lift each other up and to never stand down until the “dream” is restored and…I was there.

New Spanish abortion “liberalization” law is less radical than current USA law

Category: abortion,Europe,leftharmonicminer @ 8:51 am

Spanish Abortion Law Galvanizes Pro-Lifers and Prompts Opposition

A new abortion law went into effect in Spain this Monday, July 5, which raises abortion to the status of a civil right. Abortion was first legalized in Spain in 1985, but was permissible only under three circumstances:

1) To save the life of the mother.
2) In the case of rape and incest.
3) In the case of fetal abnormalities (http://www.clinicasabortos.com/aborto-legal.asp).

In February of this year, the PSOE: Partido Socialista Obrero Español (Spanish Socialist Workers’ Party), Spain’s ruling party, succeeded in getting its new abortion law approved by Parliament. It was subsequently signed by both José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero (Spanish Prime Minister and member of the PSOE) and Juan Carlos I (King of Spain). The new law codifies that women have the “right” to obtain abortions up to the 14th week of gestation, no questions asked.

Check the yellow pages of your USA phone book, and you’ll probably find abortion “clinics” offering abortions up to 24 or 26 weeks… no questions asked.

The debate surrounding the law had already struck a nerve with the Spanish people and spurred them into action even before anything had been approved. Grassroots pro-life organizations such as Hazte Oír (http://www.hazteoir.org/) and Derecho a Vivir (http://derechoavivir.org/) took Zapatero and the PSOE to task immediately, and organized a series of very successful demonstrations and ad campaigns to show the strength of the opposition to the liberalization of Spain’s abortion laws. The most famous of these was the demonstration on October 17, 2009 in Madrid, which brought approximately 1.5 million pro-life activists to the Spanish capital (http://www.lifesitenews.com/ldn/2009/oct/09101908.html).

Despite the massive show of public disapproval, the bill narrowly passed through Parliament, was signed and officially became law on Monday.

Spain, of course, is in the middle of demographic meltdown, because it simply isn’t replacing its population. So a commitment to higher rates of abortion, a sure outcome of the new law, is a commitment to acceleration of the death spiral, as well as encouraging murder of the most innocent.

Just to compare: in the USA, virtually any fetus can be killed anytime during the first two trimesters, in virtually any jurisdiction.  Some states have managed to limit “late-term” abortion to one degree or another, but the fact is that any woman who wants an abortion at almost any time in the pregnancy can get one, if she wants it badly enough to find a provider of such “services,” even if she has to go to another state to do it.

This is not a way in which the American Left wants to imitate European law, however…  since many European nations have laws more restrictive on abortion than the USA.
