Dang it!

It’s about time someone realized how tough it is to be a trombone player!

And don’t mess with this early retirement or I’ll go to Wisconsin and protest.

    This is my favorite part:

    Trombonists are among a select group of professionals that includes bakers, hairdressers and masseurs, who are allowed to retire early because of the nature of their work. And some of the striking civil servants yesterday leapt to defend the system. “What if these people have been working from their teenage years?” said Yanna Venieri.

    “Allowed to retire early”, huh? That’s what comes of trying to massage music out of a half-baked musical instrument.

    Personally, I’m taking early retirement at age 75. Or 76.

    Hey, easy on the sackbuts… From a Wisconsinite trombonist teamster: sliding on black ice dodging oncoming highway traffic in a white-out pales in comparison to the hazardous split-second thinking and timing involved sliding out that low-C precisely between the two french horns sitting in front of you. Did you know? Years of back-pressure causes premature arterial problems and heart disease among us brass players.
