It’s a bit tricky to use comment fields to give instruction on how to use HTML, since when you do it, it BECOMES HTML.
Hope this helps.

Okay, that didn’t work. Trying again.

Okay, giving up.

Melody,
When you tried to put “It’s a bit tricky” in italics, you put a slash after the first “less than” character.
Instead, you should type: “less than character” then “i” then “greater than character” then “It’s a bit tricky.” then “less than character” then “/” then “i”then “greater than character”.
When you do all that, it will come out like this:
It’s a bit tricky.

Well, italics is better than nothing. I really like those big blue quotation marks though. I feel like I’m missing out on some of the drama. Oh, well, I guess I’ll just have to be larger than life in what I say. Thanks.

Melody, blockquotes work the same way. To get someting in a blockquote, do this:
Type: “less than character†then “blockquote†then “greater than character†then “text to be blockquoted†then “less than character†then “/†then “blockquote†then “greater than characterâ€.

That will look like this:

Perhaps an excel spreadsheet with column A with the characters, and column B with the action.
______A_______ _______________B________________
End of quote
Start of italicized comment
End of italicized comment

Okay, here goes:

Melody, if you look at my post above, and simply COPY the text between the two asterisk lines, and PASTE it into a comment field, and click “submit comment”, it will look like this:
For those commenting here who would like to do quotes that
below is the string of text that produced this post.
Looking at the text in my post above, between the asterisk lines, it’s important NOT to put the slash at the start of the action, but you MUST put it to STOP the action, whether it is blockquoting, italics, whatever.

This is turning out to be some much-needed comic relief here! Remember: practice,

Okay, I really am dumb. I was putting in actual quotation marks instead of the word “blockquote”. Thanks guys, for all your patience, the battle’s over. I just needed to do this at o-dark-thirty.
