Tour de farce

Category: left,Obama,rightharmonicminer @ 8:26 am

Mr. Schaeffer, your dad would be proud. Very proud.

For the record, he was a great man.

But in the meantime, you really don’t have much to worry about.

And Ms. Maddow, as hard-hitting journalism goes, including probing questions, the challenging of facts not in evidence, etc., that was simply a tour de farce.   (Spelling intentional)

And your, uh, former audience is on to you.

UPDATE:  Mr. Schaeffer, is this one of the angry white men you had in mind?  I would purely love to see you attempt to debate with him.

Talk about an angry white man. It’s this kind of rhetoric that further polarizes our country. If anyone was sending a “message”, coded or otherwise, this snarling left-wing loon was.

Franky (as he used to be known) wrote a book in 1982 called, “Addicted to Mediocrity”. I eagerly read it at the time and was quite disappointed, for while I agreed with the book’s basic premise, I thought the book itself was mediocre (especially considering the topic). This is the first I’ve heard of him since. So I began to wonder what he has been up to over all these years, besides becoming excessively bitter and angry. I found this information on an Amazon book review http://www.amazon.com/Addicted-Mediocrity-Contemporary-Christians-Arts.

Baffled says: “Few people who have reviewed this book are apparently aware of Mr. Schaeffer’s own artistic work in the years following the release of this book. This book was published in 1982. Three years later, Frank Schaeffer began directing feature films. Go and watch one of these films (all directed by Frank Schaeffer):

Baby on Board (1992). Slapstick comedy starring Judge Reinhold and Carol Kane.
Rebel Storm (1990). Futuristic action film starring Zach Galligan and June Chadwick.
Headhunter (1989). Occult horror film starring John Fatooh, June Chadwick, and Steve Kanaly.
Wired to Kill (1986). Post-apocalyptic action film starring Devin Hoelscher, and with Merritt Butrick.

While it’s true that Schaeffer’s film work was consistent with one of his ideals (none of these is labeled or promoted as a “christian” film), with regard to artistic excellence they all fall completely flat. Not a single one received even an average review. All are considered some of the worst of the medium, and the low points in the careers of those who acted in them. Don’t take my word for it. Watch any one of them yourself. You’ll likely find yourself scratching your head over the dichotomy between what Schaeffer says in his book about how Christians (or anyone) should approach the arts and what he actually did in the years following the release of his book.”

At first I considered logging an “insult-count” while I watched his little diatribe. But after listening for a while it seemed a useless effort and I realized I’d have to take my shoes off to keep counting. I will say that it is entirely in keeping with so many others who find various forums with which to criticize “right-wing extremists”. The attitude is always sneering, filled with contempt and angry. Why is that?

    Amuzikman,

“If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State.”

I think Herr Goebbels left out repeating the lie loudly and angrily enough as part of his dissertation on propaganda. That is why these lefties do this.

  7. harmonicminer says:

Actually, socialist IS a codeword, but it has nothing to do with “race.” It means:

A person who believes in using the power of government to take stuff from some people and give it to others who didn’t earn it or make it in the first place, in the belief that this is more moral than the free market, and will produce a better result for everyone.

In other words, socialist is a codeword for “evil or stupid person”…. which isn’t a bad definition, now that I think about it.

I believe history pretty much bears that out. Not all socialists have been evil, and not all socialists have been stupid…. but they’ve pretty much been one or the other, when they weren’t both.
