So, unhatched frogs can learn to recognize predators while still in the egg. It would be fascinating for more research to be done, and widely reported, on what humans learn in the womb, would it not? Anyway, here’s a little research into the mental abilities of unhatched frogs:

Post-Obama, whither “diversity”?
Ken Blackwell points out the obvious, that the election of president-elect Obama signals a Post–Racial Preference America.
Two things are evident from the 2008 election. The first is that the American people voted for change, embodied in President-Elect Barack Obama. The second is that this is still a center-right country, shown by the success of traditional values ballot initiatives. This center-right orientation will compel our new president-elect to make difficult choices next year, especially regarding racial preferences.

The Left At Christian Universities, Part 6: You can’t post that HERE!
If you missed it or want to read it again, Part 5 of this series is here.
At Pepperdine, students aren’t allowed to post signs announcing meetings that might be critical of Obama. And they have a “Director of Intercultural Affairs” to enforce the rule on 18 yr old freshman Republicans, too. After describing the de facto censorship of the the College Republicans at Pepperdine, Mike Adams delivers this assessment of one of the players:

Obama on Freedom of Choice Act
Just in case you had any doubt.
There seem to be a lot of people hoping that they have not been complicit in the death of more babies by voting for Obama.
Continue to pray for a change of heart in Obama, and the people who voted for him knowing his position on abortion and FOCA.

Help fight the Freedom of Choice Act
The Freedom of Choice act has been a topic here before. Here is a website where you can add your voice with a petition to fight it. Read the following, from that site, then click the link for more information.
The Freedom of Choice Act (FOCA) would eliminate every restriction on abortion nationwide.
* FOCA will do away with state laws on parental involvement, on partial birth abortion, and on all other protections.
* FOCA will compel taxpayer funding of abortions.
* FOCA will force faith-based hospitals and healthcare facilities to perform abortions.Barack Obama believes this legislation will “end the abortion wars.” To him, “ending the abortion wars” means eradicating every state and federal law on abortion, laws that the majority of Americans support.
Americans United for Life (AUL) , a pro-life law and policy organization, has prepared an analysis of the “Freedom of Choice Act.” Please click here to read AUL Vice President & Legal Director Denise Burke’s analysis of this horrendous legislation.
The time to Fight FOCA is now. With Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid in charge of Congress, we can expect a fight over FOCA to begin as soon as the next Congress begins.
Please add your name to the Fight FOCA petition and let your friends know about President-Elect Barack Obama’s promise to expand abortion throughout the country.
And also, please consider making donations to Saxby Chambliss and Norm Coleman, both of whom need financial resources to properly police a recount or get out the vote for a runoff election. Even if you are normally Democrat in your voting, but are a pro-life Christian or Jew, or even if you’re generally pro-choice but think the state laws that exist are just fine, I hope you will pray about whether God actually wants America to pass FOCA, and then act accordingly. These senators are the remaining “required bricks” in the firewall of Senate filibuster, that may be the only chance to stop FOCA.

Negotiating with Islam: Does Obama know this?
Jihad Watch: Raymond Ibrahim: “Islam’s Doctrines of Deception”
To better understand Islam, one must appreciate the thoroughly legalistic nature of the religion. According to sharia (Islamic law) every conceivable human act is categorized as being either forbidden, discouraged, permissible, recommended, or obligatory. “Common sense” or “universal opinion” have little to do with Islam’s notions of right and wrong. All that matters is what do Allah (via the Koran) and his prophet Muhammad (through the Hadith) have to say about any given thing; and how Islam’s greatest theologians and jurists—collectively known as the ulema, literally, the “ones who know”—have articulated it.
Consider the concept of lying. According to sharia, deception in general—based on the Koran’s terminology, also known as “taqiyya”—is not only permitted in certain situations but sometimes “obligatory.” For instance, and quite contrary to Christian tradition, not only are Muslims who must choose between either recanting Islam or being put to death permitted to lie by pretending to have apostatized; but some jurists have decreed that, according to Koran 4:29, Muslims are obligated to lie.
Much, much more at the link, and all worth reading.
UPDATE: It seems the link above is broken. I’ll investigate to see if the post was taken down.
UPDATE: The link is still broken. Here is another link by the same author that makes many of the same points.

The Iraq War is won: now, Obama and the Afghanistan war
Here is how it works: for the first two years of a presidency that inherits a war, you can keep calling it the war begun by your predecessor. After that, win, lose or draw, you own it. Nixon found this out when he took the Vietnam War from Johnson. Obama is going to have to disappoint many of his peace-nik supporters and put more force into the war, and fight it even more vigorously, or he is going to have to just pull out and blame the loss on Bush. What he can’t do is just sit there in the status quo.
If the Afghan war isn’t won, or clearly about to be, in the next two years, and he isn’t deep into pulling out, the “quagmire” will be his, and only die-hard supporters will buy that it’s still Bush’s war. On the other hand, if he’s pulling out by then, even with a loss, he can probably salvage the good opinion of many of his supporters, those who don’t think much about the future of terrorist attacks on the USA, and are happy to lose any old way, as proof of American inferiority, which excites them.
NATO’s impatience with the Afghan war, and the failure of non-English speaking NATO members to really fight in it (as opposed to just providing logistical support, etc.), is probably not going to be curable by Obamian rhetorical style, regardless of cheering throngs on his grand tour of Europe. Obama will discover the exact limits of being “well regarded by the world”, which does not produce much actual action, but merely a lessening in bilious criticism.
Does Obama have the stomach to WIN the war? I don’t know. I hope so. Anything else is bound to kill LOTS more Americans, sooner or later.

As goes Chicago goes Illinois
In an interesting description of the jockeying involved in trying to get President-elect Obama’s senate seat filled, for the remainder of his term, we find this nugget about the man who will make the decision. Sounds like Illinois politics and Chicago politics were twins, separated at birth, and reconnected shortly after…
And smack dab in the middle of the maelstrom is the current governor, Milorad “Rod” R. Blagojevich, proud Serbian-American. He is also a man on the cusp of becoming the fourth Illinois governor out of the last seven to be indicted for corruption. He was mentioned prominently and not in the best light, during the trial of Obama friend, financier, and patron Antoin “Tony” Rezko, who was convicted of fraud in connection with a statehouse “pay to play” scheme. Federal prosecutors have leaked the information that they think they have enough on the governor for an indictment, largely, it is believed, because Rezko is singing to the feds in exchange for a lighter sentence. There is also a move among members of his own party in the Illinois House to impeach him. The governor is not only unpopular in the state, he is spectacularly and universally hated. A recent poll conducted by the Chicago Tribune found that just 13% of residents approved of the job he was doing.
In short, Governor Blagojevich might want to hurry the process of selecting Obama’s replacement along since he may not be sleeping in the governor’s mansion much longer. He claims he wants to settle the matter before Christmas. If so, he will probably be able to make that deadline, barely, before either resigning in disgrace or being kicked out by members of his own party.
At least the Democrats dislike him, too…. that’s something.

Evil American Soldiers
Children in Iraq have learned that American soldiers are their best friends and protectors, not to mention plumbers, electricians, carpenters, medical providers, and candy distribution centers. But from another hot spot, here’s a story of another US soldier just doing his job.
Was down talking to friends two friends, military historians who are museum curators. One has a son in the Army. He was until recently on the Korean DMZ, which is more of a no-man’s land, esp. at night.
They’re on a night patrol, about 2 AM, 20 below zero. Coming toward them they can hear, and barely see, are a party of NK refugees, fleeing NK infantry, who are firing on them. Americans move up, and he sees a tiny 4 yr old girl coming toward him thru the gunfire. He grabs her, throws her to the ground, goes prone and rests his M-4 over her back, and opens up. Two NKs go down and the rest flee. They find the two NKs dead the next day.
My friend told his son 70-80 years from now when we’re all gone, that little girl will be telling her great grandkids about you. Every family got its freedom differently. A lot came thru Ellis Island or wherever. This girl’s family got theirs at 2 AM in the DMZ, figuring all hope was lost when American soldiers appeared in the night. She felt the rifle bouncing on her back and smelled the powder smoke as the American cut their pursuers down in the darkness.
